About
Hartland Wesleyan |
Hartland Wesleyan
Church is a church with a long history, dating back to
1888 when Rev. S.A. Baker held the first services under the
Reformed Baptists. For 80 years, the church operated as Reformed
Baptist until 1968, the Wesleyan Methodists merged with the
Pilgrim Holiness church and became known as the Atlantic District
of the Wesleyan Church.
Hartland Wesleyan
Church was actually
two churches until 1983, Victoria
Corner Wesleyan Church
and Hartland
Wesleyan Church.
In the summer of that year, the two churches united in an
effort to improve outreach and evangelism in the area under
the pastorship of Rev. Perry Ingersoll. Ground was broken
for the current location of HWC on May 11, 1984. In 2001,
under the leadership of Rev. Brian Murray, the church underwent
a major building project, adding a new, modern sanctuary onto
the existing church building that seats approximately 400
people. The church now has an average attendance of over 200
people each Sunday, to the glory of God.

About
the Wesleyans
Who Are We?
The Wesleyan
Church is an evangelical, Protestant
denomination. We offer the good news that faith in
Jesus Christ makes possible a wonderful personal relationship
with God, a holy life empowered by His Spirit for
witness and service, and assurance of eternal life
in heaven. Our name is in honor of John Wesley, the
founder of Methodism, whose emphasis on a life of
faith, self-discipline, and perfect love is our example.

Our Beliefs
Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son
and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all men and women
who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.
We believe that those who receive new life in Christ
are called to be holy in character and conduct, and
can only live this way by being filled with the Lord's
Spirit. We believe in the Bible and seek to establish
our faith and actions on its teachings. We believe
God wills for people everywhere to know Him and that
the purpose of the church is to tell the world about
Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.
